Sometimes we see or hear something that takes us back to a day or a moment from our past. Younger Days is about these moments. I hope you find a memory or two that will take you back to younger days. - Bill Hartmann
NOW AND THEN CD
Now and Then is a collection of songs spanning 30 years of Hartmann’s musical career. Included in the CD is “Fire in my Heart,” Hartmann’s prize-winning song from the July 2011 Havana Hideout Songwriters Competition. In choosing songs for this CD, Bill wanted to highlight the changes he underwent musically and to express how much about him remains the same.
Like his musical inspiration, the late Harry Chapin, Hartmann enjoys telling stories through songs. Often they are about life lessons as revealed in “You” and “Sorry.” The CD title song, “Now and Then,” came to be while he struggled with a different tune. Stuck on a line about things gone-by he started thinking about all of the places he played over the years. He thought about the people he met, lives he touched, and things left undone. Before he knew it, Hartmann had a song that spoke about beginnings, regrets, hope, and a life and career that are far from being over.
Ric Pattison, owner and operator of The Shed Recording Studio of Lake Worth, engineered the CD consisting of nine original songs inspired by Hartmann’s own life lessons.
